Formed in 2003 by members of the Golden Arm Trio, Benko seeks to revamp the traditional guitar-based approach to pop music by incorporating an unusual lead instrument: vibraphone. Using classic recordings by R.E.M. and XTC as a guide, the
band's first recording in six years, “The Civil Service,” was engineered by Chico Jones and mastered by Bob Weston and released on vinyl LP on November 6, 2015.
